There is nothing ordinary about Bhutan, a land of mystery, tradition, spirituality and jaw-dropping landscapes. During this 10-day holiday, you will experience a superb selection of day hikes and countryside walks, all the while getting a better understanding of the Bhutanese way of life.
Upon arrival at the airport, you’ll be privately escorted to your accommodation in Thimphu.
Time permitting, you can explore Thimphu’s main sights with a private guide, including the Takin Reserve to see Bhutan’s national animal, Chang-gangkha temple, and Tashichho Dzong.
Start the day driving over the Dochula Pass to see the memorial chortens and distant Himalayan peaks. Also, you’ll get the chance to visit Chimi Lhakhang (known as the Temple of Divine Madmen) and explore Punakha Dzong.
After settling into your hotel, you’ll have the option of two guided afternoon hikes before dinner.
Today, you’ll visit two impressive monuments in the Punakha region: Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, a symbol of peace for the people of Bhutan, and Darangthang Nunnery near Lobesa.
Transfer to the high-altitude Phobjikha Valley.
Explore the renowned Gangtey Monastery, visit the rare black-necked crane centre, and enjoy relaxing nature walks through the valley.
Today will be spent at leisure.

Spend your morning hiking in the Phobjikha Valley before being driven to Bumthang.
You’ll travel via the Pele-La Pass, and visit the Chendibji stupa and the watchtower museum in Trongsa on the way.
Today, you’ll explore the cultural sights of Bumthang, including the temples of Jambay Lhakhang and Kurjey Lhakhang, and the Tamshing Monastery. This is also the time to try some of Bumthang’s specialities such as honey and cheese.
Today you’ll be escorted back to Paro, via the Dochula Pass. En route, visit the Simtokha Dzong, the oldest dzong in Bhutan.
Enjoy a morning hike or horse ride to the Taktsang Monastery, known as the Tiger’s Nest.
In the afternoon, visit the ruined fortress of Drukgyal Dzong and Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, before unwinding with a therapeutic treatment in the hotel spa.
Today you’ll be escorted to the airport for your onward journey.
