Mountain streams run through the property, and it boasts views of the surrounding forest of blue pines, the peaks of Mount Jhomolhari, and the 17th-century Drukyel Dzong, a fortress and Buddhist monastery.
The hotel's 24 suites are open-plan and wooden-clad - the same design is used throughout all Amans in Bhutan. In addition to a king-sized bed, there are armchairs and a window seat, which makes the perfect reading spot. The bathrooms have double basins, a big central bath, a strong rain shower, and a separate WC.
Elsewhere in the property, the uncluttered living spaces have blazing fires and window-side banquettes. There’s also a library of books, an outdoor patio, and a firepit around which to enjoy drinks.
The luxurious spa is set on two levels and includes a steam room, sauna, and a glass-walled yoga studio.
