Amankora Thimphu
Paro, Thimphu & PunakhaAmankora has created a series of five lodges, providing a circular pilgrimage through the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan‘s central and western valleys. The lodges are all unique and allow you to experience the best of Bhutan along with luxurious accommodation.
Amankora Thimphu is a ‘dzong’ inspired building with just 16 suites, a one hour drive away from Paro. Rooms offer sophistication and simple style: the décor is pared down and authentic, with lots of stone, wood and glass, and clean, contemporary wooden furnishing in muted shades. Guests can choose their food in a simple but elegant wooden-clad double-height living-dining room. Thai and western menus are available.
As well as a stone courtyard housing Buddhist prayer wheels, there’s an outdoor veranda and fire pit, a large library, a beautifully stocked shop, and a small spa.
From the lodge there are plenty of attractions including the National Textile Museum, Folk Heritage Museum and the bustling Changlingmethang Market.
