Nepal is home to the world’s highest summit, but there are numerous hiking options for families. We’ve included a trek to Gurung Lodge, but if you fancy a challenge, continue to Ghandruk – although it involves a steep climb, it offers sublime views of Annapurna.
Upon arrival at the airport, you’ll be escorted by car to your accommodation in Kathmandu.
After settling in your private guide will transport you to Kathmandu Durbar Square, where you’ll see numerous palaces and temples. After looking around, head off on a rickshaw tour of some of the city’s main sights.
After breakfast, catch a short domestic flight to Pokhara. Upon arrival you’ll be transported to the start point of your trek, a drive of around 1hours.
Your trek starts with a gentle 1.5-hour walk to the village of Lumle, where you’ll stop to explore and eat lunch. Then you’ll continue uphill to Gurung Lodge at c. 3,600 feet above sea level. The lodge has extensive grounds with magnificent views of Annapurna South and Annapurna 1.
Today, you’ll trek a further 3 hours to 5,000 feet to Basanta Lodge in Dhampus. Here you’ll witness magnificent views of Annapurna range.
After lunch, visit a local museum and school, where you can interact with the class and learn about the local education system.
Start your day with a 1.5 hrs walk before meeting your driver who will collect you for the journey back to Pokhara. Along the way you’ll have the opportunity to visit a Tibetan refugee camp and monastery.
Check into your hotel and enjoy some relaxation time.
This morning you’ll be driven into the countryside where you’ll join a rafting excursion. For the next three hours, you’ll float along the river to the Seti River Camp.
Settle in and enjoy a lazy afternoon by the river.
After breakfast, your rafting adventure continues for a further 2.5 hours until you meet the road.
Check into your accommodation in the jungle. You have two nights to explore Chitwan National Park which covers more than 900 square kms with some of the best wildlife opportunities in Asia. Spend your days exploring the park through jeep safaris, jungle walks and river safaris accompanied by expert naturalists.
Wildlife in the national park includes the greater one-horned Rhinoceros, spotted deer and Samar Deer and if you lucky there is also the opportunity to spot leopard, sloth bear and the magnificent Bengal Tiger.
Today you’ll enjoy another jungle safari.
In the morning you have time for one more safari excursion before being transferred to the airport for your flight back to Kathmandu.
Check in and visit Boudhanath, one of the world’s largest Buddhist stupas.
Round off your stay in Nepal by joining a Sherpa summiteer for dinner, to hear fascinating stories about his climbs up Mount Everest.
Today you’ll be escorted to the airport for your onward journey.
