Located amid the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu, Dwarika’s Hotel is an oasis of calm that pays homage to Nepal’s rich cultural heritage. Its founder, Dwarika, incorporated restored woodcarvings, textiles, and terracotta from demolished buildings into this extraordinary heritage hotel, blending them with modern amenities.
The individually designed guestrooms and suites are inspired by the private abodes of 14th century Malla kings. Rooms have tiled floors, lofty ceilings crossed with wooden beams, handcrafted furniture, and Nepalese textiles and artifacts. Most face the central courtyard, while the magnificent three-floor Royal Suite has its own terrace.
Krishnarpan is the signature restaurant, offering Nepalese food. There’s also a Japanese fine dining restaurant, Mako’s, and Toran, which serves local and international cuisine.
Start your day with a complimentary yoga class, laze around the central pool, enjoy a traditional treatment in the Himalayan spa, and round off your day with a cocktail and dance performance in Fusion Bar.

The style of Dwarika’s Hotel is sublime. Stunningly beautiful, this heritage property is a deft combination of mod cons and local traditional architecture. Every single piece of furniture has been crafted by carpenters in the Kathmandu Valley, and the linens are hand-woven to traditional Nepali designs. Staying here is almost like spending a night in a museum, meaning that guests receive an unbeatably memorable holiday. Also, well-received are free daily yoga classes. What better way to wake up?
