Journey Through History in Berlin
Day 1
Arrival Berlin
Upon arrival in Berlin, you’ll be met by a Lightfoot Travel representative and privately escorted to your hotel.
The rest of the day will be enjoyed in leisure. We recommend having dinner at Dreh-Restaurant Sphere at the Berlin TV Tower. You will have the best view of the cityscape.
Day 2
Private Tour to Potsdam
In the morning you’ll meet your guide and head for Potsdam, the former Prussian capital, renowned for its stunning palaces, parks and gardens.
You will have a chance to admire the beautiful Sanssouci Palace, it was once the summer home of Frederick the Great.
Day 3
Third Reich Tour
Today you will examine Hitler’s rise to power on this full day tour of Third Reich sights in Berlin. Highlights included Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate and its history during the Nazi regime, Memorial of the Sinti and Roma, Site of Hitler’s bunker, and the Olympic Stadium.
Day 4
Visit to Memorial & Museum Sachsenhausen
Today you will dive into the dark history of the Nazi regime. Meet your private guide at the hotel lobby and embark on a trip to the closest remaining concentration camp.
Located just north of Berlin, Memorial and Museum Sachsenhausen was once one of the Nazi regime’s harshest prison camps. Today, Sachsenhausen is a memorial to those who lost their lives here, as well as a museum with a library, archive, and open-air exhibits to educate visitors.
Day 5
Cold War Tour
A city rebuilt upon the ruins of its former self; Berlin was transformed from the capital of the Third Reich into the embodiment of Cold War conflict and became ground zero for a war of propaganda and four decades of chronic political & military tension between superpowers.
Today your guide with your private car will take you through the Cold War era and take you back in time to experience Berlin’s past as an occupied city. Hear the fascinating stories, see the lasting legacy, and learn what it really meant to live behind the Iron Curtain and in the shadow of the Berlin Wall.
Day 6
Departure
Today, after checking out of your hotel, you will be transferred to the airport for your onward journey.
If your flight is departing in the evening, we recommend visiting the Museum Island, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with five museums devoted to archaeology and art.
