Head of EuropeBelinda’s passion for travel began at a young age when her parents temporarily took her out of school to explore Australia. Bitten by the travel bug, the chance for her to join an exchange trip to Germany for a year was a teenage dream come true. Off she went aged 16, venturing to the UK, France, Austria, Italy, Belgium and Luxembourg while there. She hasn’t stopped exploring since.
Jobs within the travel industry have seen Belinda living in Australia, Hong Kong, Canada and Switzerland from where she organised luxury tours and river cruises for global clients. Not content with relaxing at the weekends, she’d spend her days road tripping through Eastern Europe, cruising the Rhine and Danube, spending long weekends in Scandinavia, and heading to Barcelona for concerts.
Belinda admits that she’s a fan of exploring solo; is fascinated by European architecture; and she encourages all of her guests to sample the local cuisine. “I still have a lot of ground left to cover,” she says, “but even after over twenty years I will never be bored by travel!”
- Memory: Punting down the Sekonyer River in Kalimantan, Borneo - I was on a traditional wooden klotok, everything was peaceful...and then there was a rustling, followed by crashing, followed by glimpses of bright orange. Witnessing beautiful and gentle orangutans in the wild will always be one of my favourite and most emotional travel memories.
- Country: Switzerland - After living in Lucerne for two years I am definitely biased. The natural setting is unparalleled with mountains, lakes and green hills everywhere you look. Yes, you do even see cows with bells around their necks!
- Road trip: Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia - Hungary was really interesting as no English was spoken and the towns still reflected the wounds of the past century. Slovenia and Croatia were two of the most beautiful countries. There was so much to see and each town was fascinating.
