The Wine and Truffle Grand Tour
One of the best truffle fairs and markets in Italy happens in Alba in October and November. Don’t miss the chance to witness truffles being bought and sold by true connoisseurs. It’s also the season of Barolo wine so is truly a gastronomer’s delight.
Day 1
Arrival Milan or Turin
Upon arrival at the airport you’ll be escorted to your accommodation in the Langhe Hills, where you’ll stay for the entire trip.
The remainder of your day will be spent at leisure.
Day 2
Barolo
Today you’ll visit the renowned Barolo region of Italy with your personal guide. Enjoy a wine tasting and vineyard tour, explore the castle, and dine in a Michelin-starred restaurant.
Day 3
Langhe & Roero
Today you’ll be learning the secrets of Italian food and wine. First you’ll enjoy a cookery class in an Italian castle, before a visit to the Wine Bank for a tour and wine tasting.
Top off the day with a sunset hot air balloon ride and meal in a historical palace.
Day 4
Turin
The fourth day of your tour takes place in the elegant city of Turin. Explore the UNESCO-listed Palace of Venaria, before taking to the streets in the symbol of Italy – an iconic Fiat 500 car.
Day 5
Langhe & Roero
The Alba white truffle is the ultimate prize for truffle lovers.
Today you’ll join a hunter and their dog to see if you can sniff one out. After lunch and a truffle tasting, relax in an exclusive spa and wellness centre.
Day 6
Dogliani – Alba
Today you’ll learn about the prestigious Dolcetto wines in Dogliani, before heading to Alba where a personal shopper will help you find the best local products and truffles.
After some free time, you’ll indulge in dinner in a Michelin 3-star restaurant.
Day 7
Alta Lange – Canelli – Rivoli
Day 7 is another mouth-watering day. You’ll visit a traditional dairy to learn about and taste Italian cheeses, before embarking on a guided visit to Italy’s oldest sparkling wine producer.
You’ll end the day at the original Combal. Zero, one of the top 50 restaurants in the world.
Day 8
Canelli – Cherasco
Upon arrival back in Canelli, you’ll enjoy a guided tour of the town and lunch in a Michelin-starred restaurant, before heading to Cherasco to sample two of their delicacies: pralines and snails.
Day 9
Gavi
You’ll round off your tour with a trip to Gavi in the Southern Piedmont region for lunch and a wine tasting. The afternoon will be at leisure – your Lightfoot Travel Designer can recommend activities that suit your needs prior to departure.
Day 10
Departure
Today you’ll be escorted to the airport for your onward journey.
