Xi’an is a place of ancient history and power. In its heyday, it was home to more than 12 great Chinese dynasties. The mysterious old city of Xi’an remains a key highlight of China for most visitors.

Undoubtedly most visitors to Xi’an arrive with the Unesco-certified Terracotta Warriors in mind. All the fabled strength of the Emperor Qin Shi Huang stands here in the thousands, as they have stood for over 2 millennia. The subterranean army is reason enough to visit, yet it is one of many notable historical attractions.

The city is very well preserved, allowing history buffs to take in excellent examples of medieval Chinese architecture including the 13^th century city walls, Bell Tower and Drum Tower. The spectacular Giant Wild Goose Pagoda is over 1,000 years old, while the Great Mosque in the charming Muslim Quarter is the oldest in China.
