Liwonde National Park is arguably one of African’s biggest conservation success stories. Enjoy game walks, drives and boat trips to see the newly introduced cheetah, lion and black rhino as well as the large numbers of elephants, hippo and crocodiles.
Day 1 Arrival Lilongwe – Lake Malawi
Upon arrival at Lilongwe International Airport, you’ll be escorted by car to Salima where you’ll pick up your boat transfer to Nankoma Island on Lake Malawi.
The remainder of your day will be spent at leisure.
Day 2 Lake Malawi
Nankoma Island is part of the Marelli Island Archipelago within Lake Malawi National Park.
Home to abundant birdlife, the surrounding waters are filled with vibrant cichlid fish.
Activities include snorkelling and scuba diving, kayaking, wake boarding, waterskiing, and tubing.
Day 3 Thyolo
This morning you’ll be transferred to the mainland and the region of Thyolo, renowned for its tea and coffee estates.
Day 4 Thyolo
From your base on the tea and coffee estate of Satemwa, sample tea cocktails and tastings, take a coffee tour, hike or mountain bike around the region, visit imposing Mount Mulanje, and admire the region’s magnificent birds.
Day 5 Liwonde National Park
Today you’ll be escorted to one of Malawi’s premier wildlife regions, Liwonde National Park at the tip of Lake Malombe. With wildlife including rare black rhinos and over 300 species of birds, it’s a fantastic opportunity to see wildlife in their natural habitat.
Activities include nature drives, river cruises, guided bush walks, birdwatching tours and visits to conservation research camps and a local school.
Day 6 Liwonde National Park
Today, you will be at your own leisure.

Day 7 Liwonde National Park
After a hearty breakfast, embark on an adventure for the day before your departure tomorrow.
This is your last chance to enjoy nature drives, river cruises, guided bush walks, birdwatching tours and visits to conservation research camps and a local school.

Day 8 Mumbo Island, Cape Maclear
Your final destination is Mumbo Island just off Cape Maclear in Lake Malawi National Park, where you’ll be staying in an idyllic rustic camp.
Day 9 Mumbo Island, Cape Maclear
Snorkel and scuba dive in the crystal-clear lake waters, go sailing or kayaking, hike nature trails, spot rare birds or simply kick back and relax in a hammock.
Day 10 Mumbo Island, Cape Maclear
Discover the wonders of Mumbo Island and all that has to offer. Take this time to explore at your own pace and take in your surroundings.
Day 11 Departure
Today you’ll be escorted to the airport for your onward journey.
