Nico Heath

Nico has always had an inherent connection with Africa. His mother was born in Durban and while the family lived in the UK, they spent as much time as possible exploring Botswana, Zimbabwe, Kenya, South Africa and Tanzania. As soon as he could, Nico moved to Namibia to work on a conservation project and to explore the surrounding landscape. A year later he took on the role of Assistant Manager at Borana Lodge, a boutique property in Kenya overlooking Mount Kenya and the spectacular Lewa Plains. It was here that he developed a profound understanding of the place, people, animals and culture, and the passion to want to share it.

After a stint as an apprentice guide for a leading Kenyan mobile tented company in the infamous Masai Mara, Nico returned to London and put his past to good use designing high-end safari holidays for a leading luxury tour operator in Europe. However, it was a move to Asia in 2010 that really brought his devotion for Africa and travel into the fore. Armed with 12 years of experience in the tourism industry, he co-founded Lightfoot Travel’s flagship office in Singapore. While based there, Nico returns to Africa at least twice a year, deepening his insights of this most fascinating part of the world. His unparalleled comprehension of the most outstanding lodges, movement of wildlife, game drives – and spots for safari sundowners – give him the ultimate edge when it comes to tailoring bespoke itineraries for clients every time.
