Magellan Explorer

Antarctica

Set sail aboard luxurious Magellan Explorer, a purpose-built ship for Antarctic fly-and-cruise expeditions, for a trip combining Patagonia and Antarctica minus the notoriously rough Drake Passage. Designed by Chilean naval architects, Antartica21, the ship offers adventure activities, observation decks and plenty of photo opportunities.

Its 38 spacious rooms and suites accommodate up to 73 guests during air-cruises with options for private balconies. Light-filled interiors by Enrique Concha & Co are contemporary with neutral tones designed to complement icy seascapes outside.

Dine at the Magellan’s stylish restaurant offering buffet breakfast, lunch and table service dinner, all with a selection of premium Chilean wines. Experience freezing al fresco dining with unrivalled views on the barbecue deck followed by hot drinks in the library.

Guests can enjoy learning about the Antarctic’s fascinating ecosystem via lectures and the interactive science lab. Equipped with several Zodiacs, otherworldly excursions to the shore include discovering penguin colonies, fjords and snowshoeing.

Why we recommend Magellan Explorer

The Magellan Explorer was the first purpose-built ship for fly-and-cruise adventures to Antarctica when it was inaugurated in 2020. There’s plentiful space on board with its luxurious cabins and public areas, and the passenger numbers are limited to just 73 to allow for the ultimate in personal experience of any ship exploring the White Continent.
