Eat… As fresh classic canto fare goes, Mak's is hard to beat. It serves up the essential won ton noodle soup, which is strong in fish and shrimp flavour and steams up the room.

Drink… Table tea and sodas – this is a no-frills eatery.

Expect... To see the chef whipping up a storm as he busily wraps the won tons in front of you.

Enjoy... Hiding behind a "fake" Chinese stamp shop, Mrs Pound feels like a cinema set telling the story of an adventurous cabaret performer.

Eat… The Mac ‘N’ Cheese Chilli Crab is a truly an invention. This flavour hybrid blends Singapore spice with Americana childhood memories.

Drink… In this speakeasy, you'll find a range of innovative cocktails playing the east meets west card. Order its take on the classic Bloody Mary - Pound's Mary that’s made with tom yum vodka, lime juice and tabasco.

Expect… To fall in love with the cool vibe of this cosy place as well as the myriad of deco elements that tell a story.

Enjoy… This homey little restaurant gem in Tin Hau is a firm favourite with the lunching office crowd.

Eat… The Japanese owner offers here something hard to come by on this market: a well-priced balanced meal. The udon is topped with fresh lettuce, a generous warm chicken breast with a dash of sesame oil.

Drink… Follow the crowd and sip classic lemon tea.

Expect... To be confused by the lumberjack shirts worn by the waiters. You’ll find no poutine or Canadian fare here. Instead you’ll be served heart-warming bowls of noodles and Japanese curries.
