This tour is ideal for families looking for thrills. You’ll search for the Northern Lights, explore snowy landscapes in a husky sled, reindeer sleigh and glide past picturesque fjords on the mesmerizing Hurtigruten Cruise to the North Cape.
Day 1
Arrival Bergen
Upon arrival at the airport, you’ll be escorted by a private car to your accommodation in the city center.
The remainder of your day will be spent at leisure.
There’s plenty to see and explore including the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bryggen (the Old Wharf), the Bryggen Museum, the famous Fish Market, and the Floibanen funicular railway up to Mount Floyen. Your Lightfoot Travel Designer can recommend activities to suit your needs prior to departure.
Day 2
Bergen - The Fjords
Enjoy the legendary ‘Norway in a Nutshell’ tour from Bergen.
The tour takes you through UNESCO-protected fjords and mountains and includes a trip on one of Europe’s most scenic railways, the Flam Railway.
You’ll also glide through the majestic Aurlandsfjord and Nærøyfjord on a cruise, before returning to Bergen.
Day 3
Bergen - Tromso - Balsfjord
This morning you’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight to Tromso, and onwards to your hotel in Balsfjord. Enjoy a relaxing day as you wait for your evening Northern Lights experience.
The resort guides will monitor the skies in search of this stunning natural phenomenon, and alert you with a magical Sami song if the Lights are sighted. Then you’ll be whisked away to see if you can see them in their full glory.
Day 4
Balsfjord
Enjoy a morning at leisure before an afternoon adventure.
Embark on a dog sledding tour with a team of huskies. You’ll receive some training on how to control your team before heading into the wilderness.
Round off your experience with a hot meal cooked around the campfire.
Day 5
Balsfjord - Tromso
Follow in the footsteps of world-famous Norwegian explorers with a morning snowshoe excursion. Enjoy the sounds of the forest and watch for wildlife against the pristine white snow.
After lunch, you’ll continue to Tromso, where you’ll check into your hotel. Enjoy an afternoon at leisure.
Day 6
Tromso
This morning you’ll head on a reindeer sleigh ride. Enjoy more snowy landscapes and discover the life and culture of the Sami reindeer herders.
Your excursion will conclude with a traditional meal before an afternoon at leisure.
Day 7
Tromso - Cruise
After a relaxing morning, you’ll board your Hurtigruten Cruise heading north. Enjoy the views as you travel past picturesque fjords while watching for marine life.
Day 8
Cruise North Cape
This morning your boat will arrive into Honningsvag for an excursion to the North Cape, the northernmost point of mainland Europe. See picturesque fishing villages and incredible marine life and seabirds.
Day 9
Cruise – Kirkenes – Russian Border
Your cruise terminates in Kirkenes, a small town close to the Russian border. Here you can visit the historical border crossings of Skafferhullet and Storskog, and learn about the region’s dramatic history.
You also visit the mining town of Bjornevatn and the valley of Pasvikdalen before returning to Kirkenes, where you’ll spend the night in a snow hotel.
Day 10
Kirkenes – Oslo
Today you’ll head to the airport for your flight to Oslo where you’ll be greeted and transferred to your hotel.
Enjoy an afternoon at leisure.
Day 11
Oslo
After breakfast, your guide will take you on a private walking tour of Oslo, while explaining the history and traditions of this capital city. Your tour includes a visit to the Viking Ship Museum and Vigeland Sculpture Park.
Day 12
Departure
Today you’ll be escorted to the airport for your onward journey.
