Discover the epitome of luxury nestled within the untouched wilderness of Kafue National Park at Ila Safari Lodge in Zambia. The luxury tent lodge seamlessly integrates into the tranquillity of its surroundings along the Kafue River, respecting and preserving the pristine ecosystem.
Ila Safari Lodge proudly opened its doors in July 2016 with a solid commitment to sustainability. Designed with a 'green' ethos from the ground up, the lodge operates entirely off-grid.
The lodge is committed to minimizing its ecological footprint by using environmentally friendly, locally sourced building materials and harnessing solar power for electricity. Spearheading innovation, Ila was the first lodge in Zambia to offer electric game-drive vehicles and river cruises.
Luxury isn’t compromised at Ila Lodge. Guests will experience the perfect blend of modern African style, elegance, and comfort, creating a truly unique bush retreat in the heart of Kafue.
From game drives at dawn to campfire storytelling under the stars, Ila's best gifts to you are the unforgettable moments we choreograph based on your dream safari adventures.
The e-Cruisers are fully electric, silent game drive vehicles that are charged on our solar farms at the main camp, and they are the first of their kind in Zambia. The solar-powered e-Boat also awaits, ready to glide you across the Kafue River in style.
Your stay at Ila Lodge includes activities: E-cruiser game drives, Guided Walking Safaris, E-boat safaris, Meals in the bush, Sunset & lunch cruises, and Fishing.
There are 10 luxury tents, including 6 standard tents (3 twins, 3 kings), 2 luxury suites, and 2 luxury family tents. The tents are mounted on raised decks extending over the Kafue River and carefully built around mature trees.
Each tent has a private outdoor lounge and is furnished with local woods, soft textiles and modern fittings.
All the tents feature en suite bathrooms, with either an open-air shower or tub and family tents have indoor baths and showers.
All ages are welcome at Ila Safari Lodge, and the en-suite family rooms are designed to maximise peace of mind. The guides here are brilliant at adapting their knowledge to appeal to a younger audience.
Kafue Zambezi National Park requires a 3 - 4 hour road transfer from Lusaka. Alternatively, you can fly from Lusaka to Chunga (1h20), followed by a 20-minute road transfer to Ila Lodge.
"Ila Safari Lodge is an attractive option for families, couples and solo travellers as it can be accessed by road from Lusaka. Situated in Zambia's oldest and largest park, it’s a haven for wildlife sightings. We recommend combining a stay at Ila with a few days in the north at Chisa Busanga Lodge."
