Cambodia is a wonderful destination for families as it offers cultural opportunities, as well as lots of fun. Introduce your children to the local way of life through meeting communities and cooking a Khmer meal. Add in some thrills with a jungle canopy zipline.
Upon arrival at the airport, you’ll be escorted by car to your accommodation in Siem Reap, a short drive from the Angkor Wat temples.
The remainder of your day will be spent at leisure.
You’ll rise early to witness Angkor Wat at sunrise before tucking into a hearty breakfast. Then you’ll head off on a four-wheeled adventure.
The two-hour excursion takes you through local villages where you’ll have opportunities to meet the communities and watch the sunset over the rice paddies.
Depending on the weather, you’ll end the day with a trip in a tethered helium balloon to witness the famous Angkor temples in the evening light.
Start the day with a guided excursion through the Old Market, where you’ll learn about the flavours used in traditional Cambodian cookery. You’ll then spend the morning cooking a three-course Khmer meal, before indulging in your creation.
In the afternoon, hop in a boat for the journey to the Tonle Sap Lake. You’ll pass floating houses and flooded forests en route to the floating village of Chong Kneas.
Today you’ll head back to explore more temples during the morning, with a trip to Angkor Thom, the last capital of the Khmer Empire, Bayon Temple, and Ta Prohm, a temple overgrown with tangled jungle that was made famous by the Tomb Raider films.
In the evening, attend a performance of Phare, the Cambodian Circus. Featuring music, dance, juggling, contortion and acrobatics, this tells the story of Cambodian life and supports performers from challenging backgrounds.
This morning, you’ll return to the Angkor Archaeological Park for a more modern adventure – Flight of the Gibbon. This eco-adventure takes you on a thrilling exploration of the jungle canopy via a network of ziplines, before a short trek back through the forest. It’s suitable for children aged five and above.
In the afternoon you’re off to a western-style ranch with Cambodian-bred horses. You’ll enjoy a two-hour guided horse trek through rice fields, local villages and temple ruins.
Round off your day watching a traditional Apsara dance performance.
This morning you’ll catch a short flight to Phnom Penh, where you’ll be escorted to your accommodation in the heart of this bustling capital.
Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Relax around the pool, wander the tropical gardens, or venture out to explore the city.
It’s an early start as your private transport takes you to the Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre, about an hour’s drive from Phnom Penh. Here, you’ll tour the enclosures of the world’s largest sanctuary for Asiatic black bears and sun bears.
In the afternoon, you’ll help to hide food in the bears’ enclosures, before watching them sniff out your offerings.
