Madikwe & the WaterbergComprising three separate luxury properties, Madikwe Safari Lodge sits on the Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa’s north-western province, bordering Botswana. This area, where the Kalahari meets the bushveld, is renowned for providing some of the best malaria-free game-viewing experiences in South Africa.
Lelapa (meaning ‘family’) Lodge has twelve suites and welcomes children of all ages. Family safari drives, pizza making in the ‘boma’, star gazing and many other ‘Madikwe Cubz’ activities ensure that kids are kept busy, with those as young as two permitted on the dedicated family drives in the late morning.
Kopano Lodge has four suites with private plunge pools and a beautiful open decked sitting/dining area. Further up the mountain side, with superb views across the plains, is Dithaba Lodge, whose more remote location lends itself to families or private groups.
Madikwe Game Reserve is renowned for its game viewing and diverse wildlife. Fewer vehicles here mean additional exclusivity, and crucially, sightings of more animals.

Children
All ages are welcome. There are many activities available for children including: Family safari drives, bush orientation, bug CSI, dung tracking, track pack with plaster of Paris, baking in the kitchen, making pizzas in the boma, star gazing, games night. Unfortunately no game drives are allowed for children under the age of two years and children between the ages of two and five are only allowed on the late morning family safari drive. Babysitting services available.
