MalaMala Camp

Steeped in history, this is the original camp on MalaMala. It is a contemporary African safari lodge that maintains its authenticity by remaining true to its pioneering routes. This camp is a haven of understated, modern, African luxury and caters for the wild at heart and safari enthusiasts.

The lodge is situated right next to the banks of the Sands River. Spot wild animals only a few meters from your bed on the large wooden veranda, where you have an elevated view of all the animals drinking from the river. A unique experience!

After a pleasant day in the game reserve, you can enjoy the magnificent cuisine of the lodge in the dining room in safari style and order one of South Africa's finest wines from the wine cellar.

Airlink operates daily direct air services between Cape Town, Johannesburg, and Skukuza Airport in the Kruger National Park. Federal Air operates a daily shuttle service between Johannesburg and MalaMala Game Reserve private airstrip. The MalaMala airstrip is a 10-minute drive from the camps. MalaMala Game Reserve is a 6-hour drive from Johannesburg. Access to MalaMala is via the Sabi Sand Wildtuin utilising Shaw's Gate.

Accommodation
With 19 rooms (10 Luxury Suites, 8 Luxury Rooms, and 1 Single Suite), Main Camp has a bustling energy that suits the more socially gregarious, while seven-room Sable Camp is quieter.

Activities
Early morning game drives in an open 4x4 vehicle are organised every day. Knowledgeable rangers with tonnes of experience and a genuine passion for South African flora and fauna will guide you during your safari adventure.

Besides morning safaris, also afternoon safaris and guided bushwalks are on offer. Enjoy South Africa's beautiful nature and discover the wildlife of the area.

When not on exploration in the bush, you can relax a little at the swimming pool or in the spa. More active travellers can use the gym, a special place to work out. You are also invited to visit the wine cellar or gaze at the stars in the bush observatory.

Children
Children of all ages are welcome. For the safari, only 6 years old and older are allowed.

The camp provides a "Junior Ranger Program" for your little ones. The program is tailored to suit each family's specific needs and requirements, and it includes:

• An interactive, personalised experience with your ranger
• Identifying tracks & tracking animals
• Learning basic bush survival skills
• Bush cooking & baking
• Fishing
• Moulding tracks with plaster-of-Paris
• Bush walks & Fun bush "games"

Children receive a MalaMala backpack on arrival and a "Junior Ranger Certificate" on departure.
