Jack's Camp

While on a trapping expedition in the Makgadikgadi Pans in Botswana during the 60’s, legendary explorer Jack Bousfield stumbled upon a site that captured his imagination so intensely that he set up camp under an acacia...and the result is Jack's Camp.

Set on the edge of the Kalahari Desert’s Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, the camp has outgrown its rudimentary origins to become one of the most iconic and luxurious safari camps in southern Africa. Accommodation is in 10 tented suites with en suite bathrooms and opulent, 40s-style decor. Decadent furnishings include Persian rugs, cool cotton sheets and a backdrop of exceptional views of the rugged wilderness from your private verandah. The bathrooms feature enormous showers, splashy sinks, and wooden throne toilets.

Guests dine together in a central pavilion and there's also a tea tent. In addition, the camp has one of the most comprehensive collections of ancient artefacts in Botswana, collected by the Bousfield family over decades.

Days are spent walking with San trackers looking out for - depending on the season - meerkats, zebra, wildebeest and other wildlife that live in, or migrate through, this part of the famous desert.

Location & Getting There

Guests can travel on daily flights from Johannesburg or Maun Airport to the Tsigaro airstrip at Jack’s Camp. Private air charters to camp for family or traveler groups are also available on request.

Accommodations

The Jack’s camp comprises of ten luxury tents with exotic Swahili Bedouin furnishings and rare African art. Each tent is equipped with an en suite bathroom.

Activities

Guests can embark on a walking safari, interact with the Meerkats and watch the Kalahari Black-maned lions and rare brown hyena sightings. Guests can also go quad biking on the prehistoric Makgadikgadi salt pans before enjoying a romantic elegant candlelit dinner with wine or enjoy stargazing in the astronomy evenings.

Children

Children aged 6 or above are welcomed.
