Estancia Rincon Del Socorro

Iguazu Falls & Ibera Wetlands

The Rincón del Socorro is a former cattle ranch on the edge of the Ibera Wetlands, Argentina, that’s been transformed into an eco-estancia. Set in a 30,000-acre private reserve accessible by light aircraft or jeep, this comfortable lodge is a little off the beaten track but offers a unique wildlife experience.

The main building has been tastefully renovated in traditional style with six simple yet stylish rooms in the main building and three separate bungalows, each with private bathroom. The onsite restaurant serves free-range meat and home-grown organic fruits and vegetables, complemented with a regional wine list. There’s also a rustic outdoor barbecue area for traditional asados.

The lodge runs a programme of activities including horse-riding, walking, and night safaris accompanied by knowledgeable guides, with a focus on discovering local flora and fauna including caiman, anteaters, capybaras and over 350 bird species.

Guests can unwind by the outdoor swimming pool, browse the onsite library and relax in the reading room.

Estancia Rincon del Socorro Information

Location & Getting There

Rincon del Socorro lies on the eastern side of wildlife-rich Ibera Wetlands, one of Argentina’s hidden gems that is very much off the tourist trail, a 5-hour ride from Posadas Airport.

Accommodation

The property consists of a main house with 6 warmly decorated rooms and 3 nearby bungalows. These rooms are all uniquely designed, with no two alike. They are beautifully furnished with antique historical maps, collections of stuffed animals and unique wildlife paintings. There are also large living rooms and verandas to read a book or watch the surrounding wildlife.

Activities

The surrounding sanctuary and wetlands offer a fantastic wildlife experience. Expert gaucho guides can take guests out by 4WD, boat, on horseback and on foot to see howler monkeys, anteaters, caimans, colourful flocks of birds and much more. Guests can also take part in the seasonal cattle round-ups or visit a sister property, Estancia San Alonso, in the further reaches of the reserve for fly-fishing.

Children

Children are very much welcomed at Rincón del Socorro, where child-friendly activities can be devised so that the whole family can get the most out of their stay.
