Alaskan Whales & Glaciers Cruise
“By taking a small ship such as Safari Endeavour, you can get up close to the enormous glaciers such as LeConte, and the narrow fjords and iceberg-filled waters of Tracey Arm. Wildlife is a key aspect of this trip, with superb whale watching opportunities alongside the chance to spot black and brown bears, sea otters and eagles.”
Day 1
Arrival
Upon arrival in Juneau, you’ll be escorted to your cruise ship, Safari Endeavour. You’ll familiarise yourself with your surroundings and unpack before you set sail.
Day 2
Tracy Arm - Stephens Passage
Wake in a fjord flanked by sheer granite walls, cascading waterfalls and drifting icebergs. You’ll have the chance to jump in a skiff for a better look at the glacier, keeping an eye out for mountain goats, bears, and eagles as you head towards Stephens Passage.
Day 3
Thomas Bay - Baird Glacier
Hike along Baird’s moraine, looking for shimmers of gold and quartz. This is also a nesting hotspot for arctic terns.
Back on board, enjoy a cocktail and a soak in the hot tub.
Day 4
LeConte Glacier - Ideal Cove
If tides are low, take a walk to witness the icebergs resting on the mudflats at LeConte Glacier. If it’s high tide, a skiff will take you up-close to its iceberg gardens. Go paddle boarding at Ideal Cove.
Day 5
Kake - Frederick Sound
Start your day in the native village of Kake with traditional storytelling and dancing. There’ll also be the chance to kayak in Saginaw Bay or along the Keku Islands, and hikers can head for the forest.
While cruising Frederick Sound, there’s a high chance you’ll see humpbacks.
Day 6
Baranof Island - Peril Strait
See some of the most untouched wilderness in the Tongass. Head to the woods for a bushwhack, or take a kayak for a shoreline paddle.
Day 7
Sergius Narrows - Neva Strait
This is a prime area for spotting sea otters, and the protected beaches are made for spotting bears.
End your day with a celebration dinner.
