Tiger Safaris In India
This fantastic safari experience visits two exceptional national parks in Central India and includes rustic camps and an incredible team of naturalists. Apart from tracking the Royal Bengal tiger, kids can enjoy their own customised itinerary including stargazing, nature walks and building sandcastles.
Day 1
Arrival in Delhi
Upon arrival in Delhi you’ll be met by your guide and transferred to your accommodation.
The rest of the day will be at your leisure.
Day 2
Delhi – Jabalpur – Kanha
You’ll fly to Jabalpur and be driven to your lodge in Kanha.
Over the next three days you’ll explore Kanha National Park - one the largest national parks in India and the setting of Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book.
Enjoy morning and afternoon nature drives, going in search of Kanha’s 22 species of mammals, including the stripped palm squirrel, jackal, wild pig, swamp deer, tiger, Indian hare, Indian fox, sloth bear, striped hyena, jungle cat, panther, four-horned antelope, wolf, and some 200 species of birds.
Water birds can be seen near the park's many rivulets and at Sarvantal, a pool that is frequented by water birds. The commonly seen species include pond heron, black ibis, common peafowl, crested serpent eagle, hawk eagle, woodpecker, Indian roller, white-breasted kingfisher and grey hornbill.
Day 3
Kanha National Park
Spend the following few days enjoying explore Kanha National Park.
Embark on morning and afternoon nature drives, going in search of Kanha’s 22 species of mammals, including the stripped palm squirrel, jackal, wild pig, swamp deer, tiger, Indian hare, Indian fox, sloth bear, striped hyena, jungle cat, panther, four-horned antelope, wolf, and some 200 species of birds.
Day 4
Kanha National Park
Continue to explore Kanha National Park.
Day 5
Kanha - Bandhavgarh
This morning you’ll be driven to Bandhavgarh.
Prior to becoming a National Park, the forests around Bandhavgarh were maintained as the game preserve of the royal family of Rewa. Today, half the park is covered with mixed forests, stretches of bamboo and grasslands.
Over the next three days you’ll head on nature drives to witness the likes of
the Asiatic Jackal, Bengal Fox, sloth bear, grey mongoose, striped hyena, viper, cobra, turtle, leopard and tiger.
The vegetation here along streams and marshes is rich in bird-life such as the white-eyed buzzard, black kite, crested serpent eagle, black vulture, Egyptian Vulture, parakeet, kingfisher, and Indian Roller.
Day 6
Bandhavgarh
Enjoy nature drives to witness the likes of the Asiatic Jackal, Bengal Fox, sloth bear, grey mongoose, striped hyena, viper, cobra, turtle, leopard and tiger.
Day 7
Bandhavgarh
You'll spend today going on morning and afternoon game drives, and enjoying your stunning surroundings.
Day 8
Bandhavgarh - Jabalpur - Mumbai
This morning you’ll fly to Mumbai and be escorted to your hotel.
The rest of the day will be spent at your leisure. Your Lightfoot Travel Designer will be able to recommend activities that suit your needs prior to departure, and you'll have our list of recommendations and your private guide on hand.
Day 9
Mumbai
Head on a guided city tour of Mumbai.
See the Taj Mahal hotel; visit the Dhobi Ghat (washermen colony) who work in the open washing the clothes from Mumbai's hotels and hospitals; and explore elegant landmarks of the Raj era.
Spend a few hours exploring the Prince of Wales Museum, with its excellent collection of antiques and decorative artefacts.
Day 10
Departure
Today you’ll be escorted to the airport for your onward journey.
- Visit Delhi, the capital of India that offers a sedate blend of culture, art, modern architecture and eccentric cuisines.
- Explore Kanha, the prettiest park in Central India, tracking the Royal Bengal tigers
- Enjoy morning and afternoon nature drives looking for jackal, jungle cat and 200 species of bird
- Search the forests of Bandhavgarh for the dhole (Indian Wild dog)
- See the famous Dhobi Ghat doing their washing in public during a city tour of Mumbai
