Best of Nepal & Bhutan
Trek in the foothills of Nepal's Annapurna mountain range, go on a wildlife safari in Chitwan and explore the backstreets of Kathmandu. Afterwards, experience the calm and serenity of Bhutan's people, culture and landscapes whilst treating yourself to some of the world's finest hotels.
Day 1
Arrival Kathmandu, Nepal
Upon arrival at Kathmandu Airport, you’ll be escorted by car to your accommodation in Kathmandu.
The remainder of your day will be spent at leisure.
Day 2
Nepal: Pokhara – Lumle – Kimchi – Ghandrung
Your day begins with a short flight to Pokhara, where you’ll be met by your Sherpa guide for the three-hour drive to Kimchi via a Tibetan refugee camp and the village of Lumle.
Upon arrival in Kimchi, you’ll begin the two-hour trek to Ghandrung.
Day 3
Nepal: Ghandrung – Landrung
The first part of today’s trek is a downhill descent to Modi Khola, where you’ll stop for lunch. The afternoon is a fairly challenging uphill climb to Landrung.
Day 4
Nepal: Landrung – Australian Camp – Kande – Pokhara
Upon leaving Landrung, you’ll head south before crossing a high ridge line through rhododendron forest to Dhampus. You’ll stop at Australian Camp in the forest for lunch, and then follow the route downhill to Kande.
From Kande, you’ll drive back to Pokhara, stopping en route to view a monastery.
Day 5
Nepal: Kuringhat – Panchkilo
Today will provide an adrenaline rush as you head off on a white-water rafting adventure from Kuringhat to Panchkilo, a journey of around 12 kilometres.
After lunch, there’s a two-hour drive to the Chitwan National Park.
Day 6
Nepal: Chitwan National Park
Head to Chitwan National Park.
Enjoy a nature walk or bullock cart ride before a river safari, where your guide will point out birds and other wildlife.
In the afternoon, jump in a vintage jeep for an overland safari. Keep a lookout for the endangered one-horned rhino and the elusive Royal Bengal tiger.
In the evening, enjoy a local music and dance performance during dinner.
Day 7
Nepal: Kathmandu
Today you’ll fly back to Kathmandu, where you’ll have some leisure time to explore the city.
Day 8
Bhutan: Paro – Thimphu
It’s time to leave Nepal and head to Bhutan. Your flight to Paro will give you a magnificent view of Everest, Kanchenjunga and the peaks of the Eastern Himalayas.
You’ll be escorted by car to Thimphu, where you’ll have time to relax before a guided tour of the city’s main sights.
Day 9
Bhutan: Dochula Pass – Punakha
On today’s two-and-a-half hour’s drive to Punakha, you’ll stop at the Dochula Pass to take in mountain views and 108 memorial chorten. You’ll also visit Chimi Lhakhang, also know as ‘Temple of Divine Madmen’.
After a farmhouse lunch, continue to Punakha where you’ll explore the Punakha Dzong.
Day 10
Bhutan: Punakha
Today starts with an early morning hike to the Khamsum Yulley Namgay Chorten.
After lunch you have a choice of excursions, including a visit to the Nalanda University Monastery or the village and temple at Talo.
Day 11
Bhutan: Punakha - Paro
Your return drive to Paro takes you back over the Dochula Pass and past Simtokha Dzong, Bhutan’s oldest dzong. You’ll have the chance to stop for lunch and a walk at Thimphu.
Day 12
Taktsang Monastery
Set off early for the four-hour round hike to the Taktsang Monastery, known as the Tiger’s Nest.
Visit the Rinpung Dzong on the way back, or head straight to Paro.
Day 13
Departure
Today you’ll be escorted to the airport for your onward journey.
