Day 1

Day 1
Arrival in Colombo, Sri Lanka

Upon arrival at the airport in Colombo, Sri Lanka, you’ll be met by a representative and privately escorted to your hotel 20 minutes away.

After settling in, the rest of the day will be spent at your leisure.

Day 2

Day 2
Colombo - Anuradhapura

This morning, you’ll be met and escorted to Anuradhapura, approximately 2.5 hours away.

Check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure exploring your surroundings, or simply relaxing by the pool. Your Lightfoot Travel Designer can suggest activities to suit your needs prior to departure.

Day 3

Day 3
Sigiriya

This morning you’ll visit the sacred city of Anuradhapura with your guide to witness the many stupas including Jethawanaramaya, Twin Ponds, Samadhi statute and Moonstone, to name but a few.

In the afternoon, you’ll make your way to Damballa, which houses the famed Royal Rock Temple.

Day 4
Kandy Ulgalla Resort – Kandy

You’ll depart Ulagalla Resort for Kandy.

En route you’ll visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress, an ancient rock fortress and palace ruin in the heart of the Matale District.

After lunch you’ll continue your drive to continue your drive to Kandy where you’ll explore the Temple of the Tooth and enjoy a cultural show before checking into your accommodation.

Day 5

Day 5
Kandy

Today you’ll head on a tour to explore Kandy.

Highlights include seeing the Royal Botanic Gardens, visiting Udawattakele Sanctuary, enjoying a game of golf at Victoria’s scenic Golf & Country Club, or simply strolling around the cobbled streets of Kandy. Your Lightfoot Travel Designer can advise on activities prior to departure.

Day 6

Day 6
Kandy - Tea Country

Early this morning, you’ll take the train to the Hill Country in central Sri Lanka.

The train ride is one of the most scenic train rides in Asia – just sit back and relax as you speed through dense jungle, cloud forest, tea bush carpets and rolling hillside.  

On arrival at Tea Trails, you’ll be driven to your accommodation and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 7

Day 7
Tea Country

You’ll spend the next few days at leisure in beautiful Castlereagh Bungalow.

Your Lightfoot Travel Designer can arrange optional tours and excursions for you including: a private guided tour of a tea factory, mountain biking with a picnic lunch, white water rafting at Kitigula, a visit to Nuwara Eliya (Little Scotland), and the opportunity to play golf on one of the most scenic courses in the world. Scaling the famous Adam’s Peak at sunrise is also a nice way to start your day.

Day 8
Tea Country

Enjoy the activities available in the Tea Country.

Tea Trails - Yala National Park

Today you’ll rise early for the six hour journey to Yala National Park.

For the next few days you’ll embark on nature drives in search of wildlife including elephants, black bears, monkeys, an array of birdlife and the elusive Sri Lankan leopard. You’ll also have the chance to enjoy bird watching, guided walks, star-gazing, cooking classes and photography.

Day 10
Yala National Park

For the next few days you’ll embark on nature drives in search of wildlife including elephants, black bears, monkeys, an array of birdlife and the elusive Sri Lankan leopard. You’ll also have the chance to enjoy bird watching, guided walks, star-gazing, cooking classes and photography.

Day 11

Yala National Park

Yala National Park - Galle

This morning you’ll be driven to Galle, approximately six hours away.

After checking into your hotel and a spot of lunch you’ll visit Handunugoda Tea Estate. It’s also known as the Virgin’s White Tea Factory and produces a tea completely untouched by hand.

Day 14

Day 14
Galle

The following few days will be spent at your leisure to enjoy Kahanda Kanda and Galle.

Take the time to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Galle Fort, relax on Unawatuna Beach, head to the turtle hatchery, take a boat ride on Koggala Lake or go whale watching.

Take time at leisure to explore and enjoy your surroundings.
