Photography Weekend in Siem Reap

If you enjoy photography and want to learn more about Cambodia’s fascinating culture, this is the itinerary for you. Explore the magical temples of Angkor with an expert photojournalist, discover local traditions, villages and people, and capture the bustling streets and markets.

Day 1
Arrive Siem Reap

Upon your arrival in Siem Reap you’ll be welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel.

In the afternoon you’ll explore Angkor Wat with a private guide.

Afterwards, you’ll witness the sunset while sailing along the ancient moat of Angkor Thom before being driven back to your hotel.

Day 2
2 Cambodia, Siem Reap, Angkor Thom entrance, statues on bridge

Day 2
Siem Reap

After breakfast you’ll embark on a private photo consultation and excursion around Angkor Wat with American fine art photographer and photojournalist John McDermott.

With its incredible colours, sepia-toned dawns and evening light, fascinating architecture and mystical Angkorian complex, this is a photographer’s dream.

John will tailor your excursion to suit your needs, taking you to specific temples or surrounding villages to create strong images.

Day 3
3 Cambodia, Siem Reap, Angkor Thom entrance, statues on bridge

Day 3
Siem Reap

This morning you’ll explore the Cambodian countryside and the quiet temple, Beng Mealea. Undiscovered for centuries, Beng Mealea remains unrestored and is one of the few temples you can climb through.

You’ll have lunch at a local house before setting off on a boat trip on Tonlé Sap Lake, the largest lake in south-east Asia.

Visit the village of Kampong Kleang and join a boat ride through the village, and among the mangrove forests and waterways.

Day 4
4 Cambodia, Siem Reap, Angkor Thom entrance, statues on bridge

Day 4
Siem Reap - Home

Spend the afternoon exploring Siem Reap’s colourful markets.

On the way you’ll stop by Artisans d’Angkor – a social business enterprise to discover how wood and stone carvings, lacquering, gilding, and silk paintings are created.

The rest of the day will be spent at your leisure until you’re transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
