The guestrooms and suites are a minimalist, contemporary take on traditional ryoken rooms, with futon or single beds, low tables and chairs, and a private ceramic Japanese hot-spring bath on each balcony with views over the forest or mountains.
The onsite restaurant serves Japanese or Western breakfast and Japanese delicacies in the evening, while the bar-lounge offers cocktails overlooking the gardens. As part of a resort complex, guests also have access to a couple of other traditional Japanese restaurants.
The highlight is the two communal onsen hot spring baths, with restorative waters and mountain views. Guests can also wander the gardens, hike in the mountains, enjoy early morning yoga, or indulge in a spa massage.

This place is a contemporary take on a traditional Japanese ryokan, located just outside Tokyo. The rooms are spacious and light-filled complete with tatami mat flooring, low tables and chairs and comfortable beds. Best of all, each room comes with a private ceramic Japanese-style hot spring bath on the balcony - at the press of a button you can enjoy 15 minutes of onsen water piped directly into the bath for a soak with a view.
