Day 1
Arrival Windhoek
Upon arrival, you’ll be met at the airport and transferred by private car to your accommodation.
Time permitting, explore the city of Windhoek. Take in the historical architecture, including the Alte Feste an old fort and the 1896 Christuskirche Church, or head to the restaurants, cafes and shops.
Day 2
Windhoek - NamibRand Nature Reserve
Today you’ll be escorted to the airport for your light aircraft flight to NamibRand Nature Reserve.
Upon arrival, you’ll be met and escorted to your accommodation.
The NamibRand Reserve is among the largest privately-owned reserves in Southern Africa. A mix of dunes, mountains, rocky outcrops, sandy flats and gravel plains provides habitats for the likes of hyenas, jackals, bat eared foxes, antelopes and various wild cats – along with bird species, reptiles, insects, and flora.
Time permitting, you’ll enjoy an afternoon nature activity.
Day 3
NamibRand Nature Reserve
After breakfast you’ll embark on your morning safari activity before returning for brunch back at the lodge.
Later in the afternoon, you’ll meet for refreshments before heading on an afternoon safari activity.
In the evening you’ll enjoy a drink around the campfire before dinner.
Day 4
NamibRand Nature Reserve - Sossusvlei
Start the day with a sunrise balloon flight over the namib desert, landing for breakfast and bubbles.
Afterwards, you’ll be privately transferred to Sossusvlei where you can spend the rest of your day at leisure. Your Lightfoot Travel Designer will be able to advise on activities prior to departure.
Day 5
Sossusvlei
Today you’ll be driven to Sossusvlei, home to the red sand dunes of the Namib where you’ll find oryx, springbok, ostrich and reptiles.
There’s plenty here to keep you occupied. Tour the vast dunes, climb 'Big Mama', or explore Deadvlei, a white, salt claypan, dotted with ancient trees.
Return to camp for drinks around the campfire before dinner.
Day 6
Swakopmund
Today you’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight to Swakopmund.
Upon arrival you’ll be escorted to your accommodation.
The seaside town of Swakopmund is known for its wide avenues and colonial architecture, and it’s also a great place for quad biking, fishing, sightseeing and desert tours.
Day 7
Full Day Sandwich Harbour 4X4 Excursion
This morning you’ll embark on an excursion around some of South Africa’s desert richest wetlands in a 4X4.
You’ll be driven along the scenic coastal road to Walvis Bay, home to flamingos and other endangered bird species, before heading to the Kuiseb river delta where springbok can be seen.
Weather permitting, you’ll continue to Sandwich Harbour Lagoon which supports eight endangered species and wading birds.
After lunch, the route back to your hotel will take you past fauna, flora, and wildlife such black-backed jackal, fog-basking beetle, golden mole, shovel-snouted lizard, palmato gecko, oryx, brown hyaena and ostrich.
Day 8
Swakopmund
Today will be spent at your leisure.
From shopping to arts to visiting museums, your Lightfoot Travel Designer can advise on activities prior to departure.
Day 9
Departure
You’ll be transferred to the airport for your onward journey.
