Lekkerwater Beach Lodge

Garden Route

Nestled within South Africa's De Hoop Nature Reserve, Lekkerwater Beach Lodge sits on a pristine, four-mile stretch of private beach within a 30-mile undeveloped coastline. As one of southern Africa’s most remote retreats, it offers an intimate escape along the Indian Ocean, boasting breathtaking views, eco-conscious hospitality and a deep connection to nature.

Its seven clapperboard suites are surrounded by fynbos and wild seas, with a central glass-fronted dining and lounge area featuring a 16-seater tree-trunk table and unique local artifacts. Perfect for couples, families, and solo travellers, this beach retreat invites you to relax amidst spectacular coastal landscapes, diverse wildlife and refined luxurious comfort.

Accommodation

Lekkerwater’s accommodation includes just seven private rooms including a family suite, each positioned to maximise the breathtaking ocean views. Interiors are stylishly minimalist, inspired by the natural surroundings, featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, earthy tones and unique local touches. Each room comes with an outdoor deck, offering a perfect spot to enjoy sunsets, whale watching (in season), or simply to listen to the rhythmic sound of the surrounding waves.

Food & Drink

Meals at Lekkerwater are a celebration of locally sourced ingredients and South African flavours, prepared in a communal kitchen by a talented local chef. Guests enjoy a varied menu of hearty breakfasts, light lunches, and multi-course dinners that emphasise freshness and sustainability. A selection of South African wines is available to compliment each meal, creating a delightful culinary experience.

Children

Lekkerwater Beach Lodge welcomes children aged six and older, making it a suitable option for families seeking a quiet yet nature-rich retreat. One family room features a loft and shared bathroom, while other rooms are suitable for children aged 12 and older. Exclusive-use bookings allow children of any age.

Sustainability

Sustainability is central to Lekkerwater Beach Lodge’s ethos. The lodge operates with minimal impact on the environment, using solar power for its energy needs and a robust recycling and composting programme. In line with its eco-conscious philosophy, the lodge minimises plastic usage and uses biodegradable products whenever possible. Lekkerwater’s location within a protected nature reserve also supports local conservation efforts, with guests encouraged to appreciate and respect the natural habitat.

How to Get There

Lekkerwater Beach Lodge is approximately a 3-hour drive from Cape Town, along the Garden Route, through scenic coastal and rural landscapes. Due to the lodge’s remote location, travel time varies depending on road conditions. Alternatively guests can fly into the reserve by a light aircraft flight, taking around 1-hour from Cape Town.
