Chisa Busanga

Kafue

Built on a tree island close to the centre of the Busanga Plains, Chisa, meaning 'bird nest,' inspired the design of this intimate camp.

Chisa Busanga offers breathtaking landscapes, particularly during the wet season when the floodplains are inundated, creating a stunning mosaic of waterways and grasslands. The scenery is often compared to the Okavango Delta in Botswana, making it a sought-after destination for nature lovers. As the flood waters recede from June to November, the Busanga Plains become accessible for safaris and are characterised by outstanding game-viewing, predator action, and colourful birdlife.

The 4 bird’s nest-style rooms, each elevated several meters above ground, give guests a real bird' s-eye view and a feeling of being in the tree canopy.

There is a central Bedouin-style chitenge tent where guests will eat and relax between safari outings and a small plunge pool – that offers a welcome respite from the hot midday sun.

Why we recommend Chisa Busanga

"Due to its remote location and limited accessibility, Chisa Busanga offers a more exclusive safari experience. The tranquillity of the wilderness, without large crowds, enhances the sense of adventure and connection with nature. The nests are part of the magic of this camp as you wake up to see elephants strolling past."
