Conservation Reserve with views of Electric Valley and the Marconi Glacier, Explora El Chaltén takes full advantage of its location in a remote corner of Argentine Patagonia. The passionate and curious local guides, warm hotel staff and skilled kitchen team go out of their way to make every moment memorable for guests.
The unique menu at Explora El Chaltén is sustained on the interpretation of the lodge's surroundings, nature, and culinary landscape. The ingredients, where possible, are seasonal and sourced from high-quality, small farmers and in some cases picked from the wilds of Patagonia.
The El Chaltén tours vary by activity and area to suit a full range of travellers, from curious kids to adventure-ready retirees.
Hiking tours include the Glaciar Huemul, Laguna Pollone or Aves Patagónicas hikes and vary from easy to expert, half day or full day
Van-led tours allow you to explore further afield areas of particular beauty by combining some driving with hiking
Rock climbing is available for beginners and others that are more demanding for experienced climbers
High-mountain ascents with a guide can be organised for the most adventurous explorers. The ascent to Cerro Madsen, in the Fitz Roy area, is a perfect challenge for beginners or for those who want to make their first summit in Patagonia and be rewarded with one of the most wonderful views in the world.
There are 20 rooms at the lodge, including 17 standard rooms and 3 suites. Each room at the El Chaltén Lodge is designed as a place to rest and recharge after a busy day of exploring with luxurious amenities and sumptuous beds.
Children are welcome with extra beds possible in the rooms. The lodge is most suitable for 10-12 year olds but there are easier hikes and excursions by van which suit younger children. There aren’t any specific facilities for children at the lodge.
El Chalten is approximately a 2.5-3

Explora Salto Chico in Torres del Paine but it is a full-days journey each way.
