The Scots Hotel
GalileeLocated on the western shores of the Sea of Galilee overlooking Golan Heights, The Scots Hotel Tiberias was established by the Church of Scotland in 2004. Set in the historical compound of a 19th century Scottish hospital, it’s steeped in history with a unique combination of Israeli and Scottish heritage.
The Scots Hotel provides 50 Scottish-themed rooms in the modern wing, along with 32 antique rooms in the renovated 19th century buildings. The rooms ooze character, with basalt stone walls, lofty ceilings and antique furniture. The lake view rooms are worth the upgrade.
Torrance Restaurant serves Israeli cuisine infused with flavours of Scotland, as well as local Galilean traditions. There’s also a wine bar and cellar.
The region is brimming with religious and archaeological sites, while the hotel offers an outdoor pool and beach garden, spa and wellness centre, and an art gallery displaying local artists.

Utterly unique, the gallery presents original works of Jewish, Muslim and Christian artists, and Torrance Restaurant (originally the maternity hospital) serves an eclectic menu of Scottish and Galilean flavours. The Ceilidh Bar stocks a healthy selection of wines and whiskies (of course!).
