Leopard Trails Yala

Sri Lankan Safaris
Leopard Trails offers a unique Sri Lankan safari experience in Sri Lanka’s renowned Yala National Park. With just 8 luxury tents, the camp is an intimate option for families, couples, or groups of friends. Wildlife viewing is the order of the day.

The camp is next to a lake close to a quiet part of Yala National Park, Sri Lanka’s finest wildlife viewing destination. Yala’s main draw is the leopard, which is said to be one of the best places in the world to view these beautiful creatures. However, on a safari with Leopard Trails, it is possible to spot and identify over 100 species of birds, mugger crocodiles, tusked elephants and the elusive sloth bear. Other mammals and reptiles such as buffalo, deer, jackal, wild boar, monitor lizards and mongoose are also easy to spot.

The stand-out feature of Leopard Trails is its professionally trained game rangers, all of whom follow the Leopard Trails internal ranger training program, developed over 10 years ago and based on African ranger training courses. It is the only comprehensive and professional training course in Sri Lanka.

Rangers escort guests on twice-daily game drives into the national park and act as hosts, attending to all guests’ needs during their stay.

Accommodation

The camp offers 8 luxurious tented suites, 4 of which have private pools and are all air-conditioned.

The pool suites are ideal for families and those who require a little extra luxury. They have a total footprint of 700 sqft and include a verandah by the pool.

The Lake Suites have the best views of all the tents. They are raised on timber decks and have beautiful water views from the verandah. These suites have 2 rooms with a secret tunnel interconnecting them, making them ideal for families and exciting for kids.

Activities

Whilst game drives with professional rangers are often regarded as the highlight of the stay, many guests equally enjoy the other experiences on offer, such as drinks around a campfire in the night, candle-lit dinners under the stars, junior ranger programs for kids, cooking classes, bush walks, treks to ancient jungle monasteries, and more.

Children

The camp welcomes younger guests, and additional beds and baby cots can be arranged.

How to Get There

Yala National Park is about a 4.5-hour drive from Colombo International Airport.
