Located on the edge of a traditional Tharu village, Tiger Tops Tharu Lodge is a wilderness retreat offering cultural and wildlife experiences. A short bullock-cart ride from the Narayani River, it’s a great base for exploring the Chitwan National Park, home to rare one-horned rhinos and Bengal tigers.
Built from local materials, the lodge is constructed in the style of a Tharu longhouse, containing 12 en suite rooms. The rustic rooms are cooled with ceiling fans and the bathrooms have solar-heated showers in keeping with Tiger Tops’ sustainable principles. There are also 12 safari tents.
The onsite restaurant serves Nepali and continental dishes made from produce from the organic vegetable patch, as well as local farmers and suppliers.
Activities include exploring the national park on foot, jeep, and river safaris, interacting with elephants at the elephant camp, trekking, and visiting local schools and communities. After an active day, cool off in the swimming pool or laze in a hammock.
