Sepilok Nature Resort

Malaysian Borneo

Set amongst tropical gardens, the Sepilok Nature Resort is within walking distance of the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve, home of the last wild orangutans in northern Borneo. This simple resort backs on to the orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, and it’s not uncommon to see these wonderful creatures from your balcony.

Accommodation is in 23 rustic wooden chalets, set around a natural lake. The rooms have twin beds, air-conditioning, ceiling fans, and modern touches including TVs and WiFi, while the en suites have hot showers. Outside, the balconies feature comfortable hammocks.

The main building has a restaurant and covered dining terrace, where you can enjoy Malay and international cuisine while watching the wildlife around the lake.

The highlight of this resort is the opportunity to see wild orangutans in their natural environment, as well as sun bears, which share the rehabilitation centre. You can also join birding and nocturnal jungle walks and go trekking through the forest reserve.
