Puglia

The iconic heel of Italy’s pointy boot, Apulia (Puglia in Italian) is a part of the country where landscapes, a calm, country pace of life, and legendary cuisine meet in perfect harmony. The coastal strip boasts some of the most luxurious resorts in Italy, which gaze out onto the Adriatic and Ionian seas. From here you can take day trips around the region and visit some of the towns that offer a real sense of Italian southern life.

In Alberobello lies the renowned UNESCO World Heritage site, the Zona di Trullis. Here, the town comprises of thousands of squat, conical house creating an intriguing place. Another highlight is the Baroque city of Lecce (known as ‘Florence of the South’) and Locorotondo, a shimmering white city that literally sparkles in the sunlight.

Puglia is renowned throughout Italy as being home to some of the most authentic home-style cooking. Known as ‘peasant cooking’, the region may be economically poor but it's culinary rich. Much of this is down to the abundant olive groves, luxuriant Mediterranean Sea and a temperate farming climate. A holiday here revolves a lot around eating, but when in Puglia…do as the Puglians do!
