Overland Safari Through Patagonia
This is a great itinerary for those keen to get off-piste and explore the remote corners of Chilean & Argentine Patagonia. However, this journey is spent in style, with fully kitted-out jeeps and luxury lodges along the way. Choose self-drive or take a guide; it’s up to you.
Day 1
Arrival Santiago, Chile – Chilean Patagonia
Upon arrival at the airport, you’ll be assisted with your onward flight to Punta Arenas, where you’ll be escorted to your hotel in Chilean Patagonia.
Spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 2
Chilean Patagonia
This morning you have some leisure time. You may wish to relax in the hotel spa, take a dip in the pool, or begin your explorations of the area.
In the afternoon, enjoy a cruise through Patagonia’s fjords to the Balmaceda and Serrano Glaciers. You’ll observe colonies of cormorants and sea lions and witness spectacular scenery.
Day 3
Puerto Bories – Los Glaciares National Park, Argentina
Today you’ll be driven over the border into Argentine Patagonia and the Los Glaciares National Park (approximately five hours).
After check-in, you'll have lunch at your hotel, before visiting the Glaciarium Patagonian Ice Museum.
Day 4
Argentine Patagonia
This morning, you have the opportunity to experience Patagonia like a local – with a horseback excursion through Anita Valley in the Patagonian steppe.
After lunch at the hotel visit El Calafate, known as ‘the end of the earth’ as it’s the last inhabited town before the Patagonian wilderness.
Day 5
Los Glaciares National Park
Today you’ll explore the biggest attraction in the national park: Perito Moreno Glacier. Choose between a boat cruise along the glacier’s front wall or an ice trekking excursion in the morning, before visiting the main viewing point in the afternoon.
Day 6
Los Glaciares – Torres del Paine National Park, Chile
After breakfast, you’ll cross back into Chilean Patagonia and the Torres del Paine National Park.
Check-in and have lunch at your hotel before visiting two of the park’s most picturesque lakes, Laguna Amarga and Laguna Azul.
Day 7
Torres del Paine National Park
Enjoy a full-day jeep tour in the Torres del Paine National Park. The tour includes a picnic at the spectacular Grey Glacier, part of the Patagonian ice field, and an afternoon stroll along Grey Beach.
Day 8
Torres del Paine National Park
On your final day in Torres del Paine, you have a choice of activities, including hiking, biking, water activities, horse riding, scenic tours and birdwatching. You can opt for two half-day activities or one full day.
Day 9
Departure
Today you’ll be escorted to the airport for your onward journey.
