Hacienda Zuleta is a luxury boutique hotel set in delightful gardens on a 4,000-acre working farm. It’s situated on the edge of Zuleta village in the Andean mountains of Northern Ecuador and was once the home of the late president Galo Plaza Lasso.
This 16th-century hacienda has a homely atmosphere and combines historic charm with contemporary comforts. There are 21 spacious rooms (3 Standard Rooms, 11 Deluxe Rooms, and 7 Junior Suites) complete with bold colors, high-quality linen, wooden floors, a wood-burning stove, and views over the garden. Bathrooms feature relaxing tubs and candles. Some suites have a private garden.
Farm produce is at the forefront and every evening spreads of food are laid out by the fireplaces for guests to sample. In addition, there’s a cheese museum on the farm, and in the evening you can sample wine and local cheeses.
There’s plenty to keep you busy from horse riding, mountain biking, horse-drawn carriage rides, or an embroidery class in the village.
