Cristiano Lodge is a couple of hours’ journey by 4×4 and boat from Alta Floresta. Set within a private reserve extending some 28,000 acres, it offers excellent wildlife viewing, superb guides and as an ecolodge, it is seriously committed to conservation.
Cristiano has only 16 rooms so expect personal service, attention to detail and great food. Whilst the older standard rooms are simple, the superior rooms and bungalows are excellent, blending seamlessly with the jungle. The larger bungalows come with private gardens and outdoor bathtubs.
In between activities, breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the Lodge’s restaurant. The chef prepares Brazilian food using produce grown at the lodge. After dinner, guests can relax by the open fire and talk over the adventures they’ll be having on the next day.
The activities on offer are varied and interesting. Wander along the many jungle trails; head on a boat trip; go canoeing to see Giant River and Neotropical Otters; and experience the canopy observation towers for stunning views across the treetops.

“Uniquely set in the remote far south of Amazonia, the wildlife experiences on offer at this luxury lodge are far superior to that of the Manaus region thanks to its location within a private reserve of primary forest. Home to almost 600 species of birds, as well as mammals and reptiles, it combines fantastically well with the wildlife-rich Pantanal wetlands for those wishing to cover a variety of ecosystems on their trip.”
