A Sri Lankan Honeymoon
“Famed for its wonderful landscape and relaxing atmosphere, Sri Lanka is a perfect destination for a luxury honeymoon. Visit romantic misty tea plantations, historical sites and Yala National Park, and stay at the most romantic hotels on this two-week itinerary.”

Day 1 Arrival Colombo
Upon arrival, you’ll be met by a representative and privately transferred to your hotel, The Wallawwa.
After settling into your surroundings, the rest of the day will be free for you to relax.

Day 2 The Wallawwa
Spend today at leisure.
Enjoy time at your hotel which boasts romantic gardens and a swimming pool, gourmet cuisine, discreet service and a decadent spa.

Day 3 Colombo - Kandy
Today you’ll be privately escorted to your next destination, Kandy. On the way you’ll have the chance to see the Millennium Elephant Foundation to observe and walk with elephants.
After checking into your hotel you’ll have the rest of the day to yourselves.

Day 4 The Kandy
Spend today enjoying your facilities and surroundings.
This is your chance to go hiking at the Hantane Range: visit Temple of the Tooth, Sri Lanka’s most sacred shrine; stroll the Royal Botanical Gardens; and trek through tea estates.

Day 5 Kandy – Tea Country
This morning you’ll travel south from Kandy into Sri Lanka’s vertiginous Tea Country, so-named for the velveteen tea plantations that carpet the misty hills.
Check into your secluded boutique and spend some time settling in by going for a swim or indulging in a massage before enjoying a candlelit dinner.

Day 6 Tea Country
You can choose how you’d like to spend today. Perhaps you’d like to enjoy a picnic at a secluded spot by a secret waterfall; embark on a guided nature wall through God’s forest; or learn how to make Hoppers, a traditional Sri Lankan snack.
Alternatively, just chill out by the infinity pool.
Day 7 Yala National Park
Today you’ll be transferred from the hills to the edge of Yala National Park. On the way you’ll stop at Buduruwagala, a series of seven well-preserved Buddhist figures carved into sheer rock.
Yala National Park is the island’s premier game reserve, home to a dense population of leopards, elephants and sloth bears.
After checking into your luxury tent there’ll be time for a quick dip in the pool before dinner. We recommend eating al fresco on rocks by the water’s edge.
Day 8 Yala National Park
Rise early to go on a thrilling game drive in your jeep. Your guides will tell you what wildlife to look out for, and you’ll take a picnic breakfast with you to enjoy under a shady tree.
You’ll return in time for lunch and relaxation before setting out on a second game drive in the early evening.
Enjoy dinner back at the lodge and retire early for an indulgent bath and an early night.

Day 9 Yala National Park
Enjoy another day of morning and evening game drives looking out for elephants, wild birds, sloth bears and the elusive Sri Lankan leopard.
Fit in a soothing couples’ massage before ending your day dining-a-deux by candlelight.

Day 10 Galle
Today you’ll be driven along the cove-sprinkled southern coastline to Galle, famed for pretty beaches, a 17th century Dutch fort and a cosmopolitan vibe.
Your next hotel will be Kahanda Kanda. Set on its own 12-acre hilltop tea estate, this blissful couples-only boutique hotel is an ideal honeymoon choice.
Settle in and spend the rest of the day at leisure.
Day 11 Galle
How you choose to spend today is up to you.
Relax poolside, indulge in a spa treatment, take a guided bicycle ride through picture-postcard rice fields, head for the beach, or go on a private tour of the hotel’s own tea estate.
Your Lightfoot Travel Designer can advise on activities prior to departure.

Day 12 Galle
This is your time to wander the charming streets of Galle, visiting the shops, bars, cafes and restaurants, and perhaps watching the sun set by the edge of the Fort with the locals – a daily ritual.
Your Lightfoot Travel Designer can advise on activities prior to departure.

Day 13 Galle
Spend the final day of your honeymoon relaxing at your hotel, exploring Galle Fort, or taking a trip to one of the nearby beaches for a swim in the sea, cocktail on the sand, or an energetic surf lesson.
End your holiday with a special meal under Sri Lanka’s beautiful starry skies.
