Located in the center of Avignon, La Mirande is one of the city’s loveliest buildings. Originally a 14th-century cardinal’s residence, this palatial hotel has been painstakingly renovated to recreate the atmosphere of an 18th century private home.
La Mirande offers 26 exquisite guestrooms, each individually decorated with historic French cotton prints. The luxurious rooms feature polished wooden floors, period furniture, huge beds, and antique rugs. Windows overlook the rear courtyard or Papal Palace, while the expansive suite offers the ultimate indulgence.
The elegant restaurant serves gourmet French cuisine accompanied by fine wines from the hotel’s cellar, while the lounge serves an impressive array of pastries and cakes in its popular afternoon tea.
The old kitchen is home to Le Marmiton, a cookery school teaching Provencal classics, while there’s plenty to explore in the historic Old Town, including Avignon Cathedral and the famous Pont d’Avignon.
