Okinawa is referred as the ‘Hawaii of Japan’ where you can find stunning blue ocean and amazing snorkelling and dive sites. It’s also a great spot for families thanks to lots of cultural experiences. On this itinerary you’ll find yourself participating in many outdoor activities alongside recharging your batteries on the beaches of some of Japan’s most secluded islands.
Upon arrival you’ll be met by a representative and privately escorted to your hotel.
The rest of your day will be spent at leisure, armed with our list of recommended attractions and restaurants to help you have a great start to your trip.
Start your trip with a full day city tour of Naha with your private guide. Visit Makishi Market, one of the busiest markets in Okinawa; create your own souvenir at the Naha City Traditional Arts & Craft centre; pay a visit to Shuri Castle, the UNESCO World Heritage Site; and head to the historical site of the Ryukyu Kingdom.
Today you’ll go behind the scenes of Okinawa’s most typical alcoholic drink: Awamori. Spend a fascinating morning at an Awamori Distillery, learning the production process and the history of the area.
Spend the afternoon at leisure. Your Lightfoot Travel Designer will be able to advise on activities prior to departure.
Sunscreen and a great book at the ready - today you'll travel by plane to Miyako Island to enjoy time on the excellent beaches. This is your chance to try snorkelling, stand-up paddleboarding, flyboarding, and to cycle around the island.

Today offers you the chance to dive or snorkel in one of the world’s most beautiful and alluring spots. Your dive coach will show you the rich marine life of underwater Miyakojima before you experience the magical beauty for yourself.
After breakfast you’ll take the plane to Ishigaki Island, a wonderful pocket of Japan in Okinawa that is blessed with attractive dive sites, white sand beaches, rich mangrove forests and great food.
You’ll then be privately escorted to your next hotel where check-in and leave for a sunset cruise.
The remainder of the night will be spent at leisure.
Today you’ll enjoy a full-day tour to Iriomote Island, one of the remote Yaeyama Islands and part of Iriomote-Ishigaki National Park. Kayak up river to the Pinaisara Waterfall, take a dip in the cool basin of the fall and enjoy a camp lunch.
You’ll also visit Barasu Island, a small sandbar in the middle of the ocean.

We recommend travelling by ferry to Kohama Island or Kuroshima where you can jump on a bike for some exploration on two-wheels.
Today you’ll be escorted to the airport for your onward journey home.
