Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge

Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge is Uganda’s highest lodge, lying over 2,000 metres above sea level. It offers awe-inspiring views of the Virunga Volcanoes on one side and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest on the other. Kigali Airport in Rwanda is six hours away.
This luxury property combines rustic elegance with modern comforts and has a laidback vibe. The main lodge feels like an alpine chalet with soaring ceilings, exposed beams and huge picture windows overlooking the breathtakingly beautiful landscape. Private butlers are on hand to attend to your every need.
Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge accommodates up to 18 guests in seven spacious and elegant cottages built from local volcanic stone. Each cottage features a large sitting room, plush furnishings, a fireplace, artworks from one of Uganda’s renowned artists and a private veranda. There are two family cottages.
Meals are prepared using fresh local produce and private dinners can be arranged.
The area is home to an abundance of wildlife including over 560 species of birds but the main activity at the lodge is tracking gorillas. The Nkuringo gorilla family home range is approximately a one-and-a-half hour hike from the lodge, and there are another five gorilla families within easy reach.

“As its name suggests, a stay at Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge makes you feel like you’re up amongst the clouds, soaking in spectacular views of the Virunga Mountains. Its location on the quieter southern side of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest means a thoroughly intimate setting from which to embark on excursions to encounter our closest living relatives. Families are welcome, although there are no specific facilities for children. Please be aware that children under the age of 15 are not permitted to track gorillas.”
