Roho Ya Selous

Nyerere National Park & Southern Tanzania

Set on a small hill in the wildlife-rich Nyerere National Park, in Tanzania, Roho ya Selous – which translates as ‘the heart of Selous' – is a camp by Asilia Africa. Offering the ideal blend of comfort and adventure, it has direct access to a diverse range of habitats and wildlife, including one of the largest populations of rare African wild dogs.

Accommodation is in eight stylish tents set on stone bases. The evening breeze cooling system ensures a comfortable night’s sleep in the king-size beds, while the en suites feature indoor and outdoor showers. Each room has a private veranda, ideal for watching game stroll past camp.

All meals are provided, from bush breakfast picnics to buffet lunches and three-course evening meals served in the communal mess area. After dinner, gather around the fire in the outdoor lounge.

Activities include nature drives, walking safaris, boating safaris, birdwatching and fishing. There's also a swimming pool for a refreshing dip in the middle of the day.

Why we recommend Roho Ya Selous

“Come here to feel completely immersed in nature. There’s no disconnect from the wilderness: the dining area and lounge are in open-sided canvas tents allowing uninterrupted views of the lake and its surroundings. Travelling as a family? Room 7 is a family room sleeping five (children must be aged five and over).”
