Our pick of the best experiences in Queensland

Queensland, "the Sunshine State”, is the second largest and third most populated state in Australia, situated in the northeast of the country.

The most iconic destination in Queensland is the Great Barrier Reef with its astounding diversity of marine life. Almost as famous are the Whitsunday Islands, a collection of 74 beautiful tropical islands which are idyllic for snorkelling, diving or boating. Fraser Island is a favourite for four-wheel-driving adventure, and the whole of the Queensland coast is excellent for hiking, biking, boating, and fishing.

Daintree Rainforest is where the rainforest meets the reef, transforming dense forest to waterfalls, and dramatic gorges to sandy beach and beautiful reef. It’s the only place in the world where two World Heritage sites join on the coast.

Punctuating the natural landscapes are a collection of vibrant cities and laid-back towns, from sophisticated Brisbane and the glitzy Gold Coast, to tropical Cairns and the laid-back chic of Noosa and Port Douglas.
