Spicers Sangoma Retreat

Nestled into the forest canopy of the Blue Mountains in New South Wales, Spicers Sangoma Retreat is an intimate eco-retreat offering the ultimate location and the chance for guests to rejuvenate, reconnect, and unwind.

Sangoma is the Zulu word for the traditional healers or diviners and it’s an appropriate name for this calm setting. The five safari-style suites combine modern comforts with natural materials and African-inspired décor. There are a king-sized bed, lounges and armchairs, a roaring fire, and private free-standing bathtubs with views over the forest. A large, private deck with a hanging chair - which is a great spot for sunset and reading - overlooks the bushland.

Dinner is a five-course meal with paired wines. Elsewhere there are daybeds, lanterns and candles, an infinity pool with oversized daybeds, and relaxation pods. The massage room is located in a luxurious oversized tent so guests really feel at one with nature.

Spicers Sangoma Retreat is nestled among the trees and wilderness of New South Wales, less than 90 km from Sydney International Airport (approximately one hour by car).

Five safari-style contemporary rooms accommodate up to 10 guests in total luxury and comfort.

The unique Tent Suite goes well beyond any standard definition of the word “tent.” The free-standing structure with roll-up tent-style doors is set into the trees, an opulent grown-up version of every child’s treehouse dream, complete with a fireplace, king-size bed, overhead chandelier, and two-person Philipe Starck bathtub overlooking the forest canopy beyond.

Three Luxury Bush Suites offer spacious open plan designs with the forest at your doorstep. Take in spectacular unhindered views from the king-size bed, lounge, private deck, and even the bathroom. Floors are heated and a fireplace lends extra warmth and a beautiful glow during the cooler evenings and nights.

The premier Chief Suite pushes luxury and comfort over the top. Spanning two levels, this exquisite rustic space features an upstairs bedroom with panoramic views. On a clear day, guests can see the city skyline, 80 kilometers away. Downstairs, leisure time takes hold in a spacious lounge with butter-soft leather sofas, a dining area, a private deck, and a plunge pool, all of which offer a front-row seat to stunning sunsets glowing brightly across the leafy canopy of trees.
