Located near the geographic centre of Mongolia, Sweet Gobi Geolodge offers a unique stay in the Mongolian steppes. With views over the golden sand dunes of Elsen Tasarhai and the Khogno Khan sacred mountains, this Out of Nowhere ecolodge fuses a back-to-basics approach with comfort.
The 20 individual yurts are decorated with local furniture and textiles, and heated by a wood-burning stove. There’s no electricity or running water to minimise environmental impact. Instead, there are dry toilets and guests are given hot, pine-scented towels to freshen up with. A hair-washing service is provided in the Hair Cocoon Yurt.
The restaurant serves Mongolian cuisine. The Bar is the social hub, with French wines and games, set to the backdrop of Mongolian music.
Enjoy camel and horseback rides through the sand dunes, go birdwatching around the lakes, visit nomadic herders, and discover the local culture and heritage of this fascinating way of life.
