Gili Lankanfushi re-opened in 2020 and does not disappoint. Located in one of the largest lagoons in the Maldives and boasting spacious overwater villas that provide spectacular ocean views from every room, it's one of the most famous and luxurious hotels in the region.
Here you’ll find 45 villas including some on private islands only accessible by boat. Rooms feature chunky wood furnishings and a sense of colonial style. There’s a sitting room and an open-air deck with a ladder straight into the lagoon. Bathrooms come with a panoramic bathtub. Upstairs, there’s a roof-terrace for dining or sleeping under the stars, and you’re treated to your own Mr (or Ms) Friday.
Kashiveli Restaurant hosts themed cuisine evenings, The Passage to India serves curries, and By the Sea conjures up Japanese fusion dishes.
The resort has its own PADI diving school with watersports activities, swimming pool, and spa with glass floor panels so you can watch the tropical fish bobbing along throughout your treatment.
When you think Gili Lankanfushi can’t get more perfect, plastic is banned, food waste is composted and organic toiletries come in earthenware containers.
